Matt spent 8 years in the Army, including a 12 month tour in Afghanistan, where he quickly learned the importance of strong team leadership and sustainable infrastructure. Following the Army, Matt applied his leadership to his graduate education at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. In 2015, he designed & engineered a proprietary hydro turbine to convert river and ocean currents into usable electricity. The design was based on the fundamental laws of fluid mechanics and tested in a live environment to be more efficient in rotation than conventionally designed turbines. Shortly after, he met his business partner, Evan, while at Stevens and they began brainstorming the idea of Ribbit.
